Few of the Prominent Alumni of the Department are:

Aftab Ahmad Khan Lughmani – DE 06
Brigadier (Retired) Aftab Ahmad Khan Lughmani is a graduate of College of EME in Electrical Engineering. He completed his M.Sc in Microwave Engineering from the department of Electrical Engineering and he is the 1st alumnus to serve as Commandant NUST College of EME. He also holds the distinction of being the 1st EME Officer to actively serve in elite Special Services Group (SSG) of Pakistan Army.
Dr. Hamood Ur Rahman – DE 08
Brigadier (Retired) Dr. Hamood Ur Rahman is graduate of Degree-3 EE. He completed his PhD from University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney Australia. He has versatile experience and outstanding accomplishments in Government Public, Private, Academic and RBD Sectors. He served as Deputy Director General (Satellite Manufacturing at SUPARCO, Professor and Head of Department of DEE, and as Director Research, NUST He was awarded with numerous certificates most notably his conference with Sitara-e-Initiat (M) in the year 2020.
Adnan Shahid – DE 14
Mr. Adnan Shahid graduated in Electrical Engineering from DEE and with the pioneer batch of NUST in 1996. He later did his MBA from MIT. He is known in the business world for innovation with leadership, creativity and accelerating digital ideas to life. He is the President, Global Business and Partnerships at A&Z Ideology, Ontario, Canada. Formerly, he has been the CEO of TPL Maps, CCO in PTCL and CIO at Jazz Mobilink.
Dr. Ghina Zia – DE 31
Dr. Ghina Zia received BE degree in Electrical Engineering from NUST college of E&ME in 2013. She then completed her PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Kansas State University, USA on Kansas State funding in 2021, with the 4.00 CGPA and recognized as the Best Graduate. She is currently working as a post-doctoral fellow, Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences Indiana University School of Medicine, Indiana, USA
Dr. Waheed Uz Zaman Bajwa – DE 19
Dr. Bajwa received BE degree in Electrical Engineering from NUST College of E&ME in 2001. He later received MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2005 and 2009, respectively. He has been with Rutgers University-New Brunswick since 2011 as a faculty, where he is now a full professor in the Department of Electrical and an and Computer Engineering and associate member of the graduate faculty of the Department of Statistics.
Dr. Raza Samar – DE 07
Dr. Raza Samar received his BE in Electrical Engineering from NUST college of E&ME. He then Completed his MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and the University of Leicester respectively. He is currently Chairman of the National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM).
Dr. Mohammad Bilal Malik– DE 08
Dr. Malik has been an iconic student and faculty member of DEE. He is the awardee of the first PhD Degree by NUST in the year 2004. He currently holds the appointment of Member Defense Projects at KRL.
Asim Bashir Warraich – DE 14
Brigadier Asim Bashir Warraich has graduated in Electrical Engineering as part of DE-14-1st batch of NUST. He is the first technical cadet graduate to have assumed command of College of EME. The alumnus is recipient of coveted Gold Medal at CEME and COAS Cane at PMA. During his illustrious military career, he has served on numerous command and staff appointments in addition to have served as an instructor at PMA Kakul and C&SC’ Quetta. He holds an MPhil Degree in Policy Making and Masters Degree in Engineering Management and Warfare Studies.
Dr. Faisal Altaf – MS 2005
Dr. Faisal Altaf was of Postgraduate student of DEE in 2008, following which he proceeded to Sweden for the completion of his PhD from Chalmers University Technology. He is currently Chief Engineer at Volvo Group Trucks Technology (CTT) at Gothenburg, Sweden where he leads trans-continental teams of researchers
Dr. Umar Azad – DE 25
Dr. Azad has extensive experience in communication technologies, having worked at Sony Mobile Communications and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is currently serving as a Senior Engineering Manager for Design at Meta, focusing on VR Portal and Smart Class projects, with previous experience at Apple
Dr. Isra Sarfraz – DE 27
Dr. Isra received her BE degree in Electrical Engineering from NUST college of EBME in 2009. She completed her PhD from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia with the research focus on graduate employability, human resource development and organizational behavior.

Currently, Dr. Isra is working as a faculty member at Swinburne University of Technology and Federation University in Australia Previously she has also worked at Monash University and Australian School of Management.

Syed Usman Ali – DE 26
Mr. Usman graduated from DEE with a CGPA of 4.0 and was declared PEC Engineer of the year 2008. Later he secured a fellowship for MS in Electrical Engineering at University of Illinois Urbana Champaign Currently, he is working as a Tech Lead for Sustainable Investment at Bloomberg Financial Software company in New York
Muhammad Usama Ejaz– DE 39
A member of research group NUST Automotive Group (NUSTAG), Usama secured a six-month internship at Tesla at their headquarters in Silicon Valley, USA, in Oct 2021. He is the first person from Pakistan to get selected for this internship. As a Motor Design Intern at Testa, he worked on the characterization of anisotropic conductivity of carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP).
